# Tax, insurance, and planning valuation

Different decisions use different value questions. State the intended use, audience, effective date, and deadline at the start.

## Property tax questions

A private appraisal does not change a county appraisal district's records, file a protest, or decide an appeal. If you are considering a Texas property tax protest, check the current instructions and deadline with your local appraisal district and the [Texas Comptroller's protest guide](https://comptroller.texas.gov/taxes/property-tax/protests/).

If a separate value opinion may help with your records, discuss the intended use, effective date, audience, and any required format before requesting work. Promiseland Appraisals does not provide tax or legal advice.

## Insurance and personal planning

An insurance question can involve a different value concept from a market-value question. Ask your insurer what value, date, and documentation it needs before commissioning work.

For a personal planning decision, explain what choice the information should support. Scope and deliverable are confirmed directly for the property and intended use.
